About DrÉ

Born in Sweden and now a Permanent Resident of the US, Dré Anders is a product of a very famous musical family. Her parents graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm Sweden–her father was honored with a postage stamp, and the family toured in churches and summer festivals all over the world for most of her childhood. So, for someone who spent her first 18 years on stage, she chose an odd career path for the better part of the next two decades…pushing her two brothers out of the creative nest (Adam Anders-music producer for Glee, Perfect Harmony and numerous movies, Alex Anders-vocal producer and engineer), joining a pop group in LA, experimenting with Blues and Rock, vocal producer/arranger for various Indie projects, and an early contributor for the launch of the critically acclaimed Travelin’ McCourys. These paths brought her to creating Dré and the Collective, and her debut CD My California, where her acoustic influences came together, with the help of her many talented musician friends. The release garnered her a number one on Sweden’s independent singles chart.

That album, and her friendships, has led to many collaborations in the acoustic community. On any given day, she can be backed up by members of the Royal Family of Bluegrass—Ronnie McCoury and Rob McCoury, along with their bandmates Jason Carter and Alan Bartram. Cody Kilby, of Ricky Skagg’s fame, frequently lends his guitar greatness, as well as arranging and co-production. Dré’s background in pop, Gospel and the acoustic music world has given her a unique voice. She’s been described as a "hard folk" artist, tackling subjects that are emotional and thought provoking, presented in soft melodies and warm harmonies, surrounded by soulful acoustic instrumentation. She also spearheads Dré and the Gospel Collective (which is a staple at Delfest), Bowman, Bowman and Dré, and lends her vocals to many others, including Del McCoury and Friends. Recently, Dré has started working on a new folk project with Cody Kilby and The Gibson Brothers, so stay tuned!
